Hi,
I have been using the Inventory Software for my company. It works fine but for a couple of problems.
Some of the softwares like Beyond Compare are not being scanned. If they are scanned, there are a few softwares which when created a report of all nodes are ignored in the report(like quickbooks server comes in the report, quickbook client doesnt). Can you take a look at what the reason for the same might be?
1. Which report exactly is missing these selected software titles?
2. Is "Beyond Compare" present in your "Add/Remove Software" (or "Programs and Features") list in Control Panel?
3. Which OS are you scanning from and which OS has these issues when scanned?
4. Are you scanning using WMI or an agent?
1. QuickBooks Premier Edition 2010 is the software name. It shows up on the scanned node but doesnt show up on "Softwares grouped by title" report.
2. Yes. "Beyond Compare" is present in Add/Remove Programs list. Laptop is Windows Vista.
3. Windows Vista is used for scanning. Quickbooks software is on Windows 7 Home Premium.
4. I just do a regular "Scan IP Range" scan. If by agent you mean exporting the file, running on remote computer and importing again, then NO. I run the software and it detects the laptops. At least for the above mentioned laptops. So i guess i use WMI.
Looking into this. Hold on.
Sorry for delay. Seems like you just need to update your network summary so that all newly collected software is aggregated in the "All software" report. This will feed the other software reports as well.
Thanks a lot. The problem of Quickbooks is solved. However, Beyond Compare Software is not being detected at all. Can you tell me what the issue may be.
Also there is a Windows XP Professional OS on one of the laptops. I tried everything but am unable to get access to that computer. Can you help me with that. Are there some steps which i can follow to get access.
One peculiar thing happening is I am able to scan around 18 laptops having Windows 7 professional OS but there are 2(same OS) more which i am unable to get access to. The reply which scanning is "Remote computer taking too long to respond". The setting i did on all of them(18+2) are Allow Remote Access in Windows Firewall, Change Inbound/Outbound Settings, Provide total access to all user in WMI Security and change UAC to never report. Is there something I am missing or is there a default setting on the laptop due to which i am unable to get response from those 2 laptops?
I'll update you shortly. Considering our/your options now.
To check this further, we need exported snapshots from the following registry keys in the system, which has this software installed, but not appearing in the scan results:Ankit said: However, Beyond Compare Software is not being detected at all. Can you tell me what the issue may be.
Can you confirm that you tried everything in our FAQ? Here's the link: http://www.clearapps.com/help.htmlAnkit said: I tried everything but am unable to get access to that computer.
Frankly speaking, it's the first time we see this error.Ankit said: "Remote computer taking too long to respond"
Got it. Will update you soon.Ankit said: I have emailed you the snapshot and the internal format audit of the node.
Can you access the following address on the troublesome nodes from your computer where you are scanning from: \\ip\admin$ ?Ankit said: Also i did try everything provided on the FAQ. Still am unable to access the node. What do you mean by admin shares?
Hi Jeff,
I wont be able to provide any more input to the windows xp case.It is a closed case for us. We are planning to upgrade that to windows 7 which works fine. Thanks for your help.
I hope you do find a solution for the Beyond Compare software. Its just that i dont want to feel there are other softwares as well which may not get detected.
Thanks again.
Yep, we will add support for such software (not detected due to peculiarities of their registry traces) in one of the next updates. You can subscribe to our RSS for news, and there's an automatic update notification inside of the software about every new release.
