Can something be added to indicate nodes which failed to scan. If you have 10 nodes this isn't a problem If you have to scan a network of 200 nodes, you have to run through the list reading each scan result to determine if it has worked or not. If it has not worked you have to note down the node name for later investigation.

Ian, I'll send you some pictures on this later this week. This is also a feature in development.
Hi Jeff,
I have looked through the forums on this and was wondering if there has been any further action on adding a 'failed scan' type of log to NIA? I am finding a lot of the systems in our network (legacy systems) have incorrect permissions, thus fail to scan. I would love to have a quick report that notifies me of every system that NIA sees, but for some reason or another is unable to scan (ie: access denied, remote system disconnected, etc etc).
Thanks,
Brian
If you are already updated to one of the latest releases (the newest one is the best option of course), you can do the following. That's a very profound hint, BTW!
Once the scanning is finished, but you still see the list of nodes in the scanning dialog, select the "Advanced post scan options" button. Select the nodes you would like to keep on the list for further investigation. Enable "Add selected failed nodes as manual assets" and choose a separate group where you would like these nodes to be added. Complete the scan by clicking OK.
Now go to Network Inventory Advisor installation folder. Go to [information] subfolder, find the common.xml file. Open it in any editor, find your newly created group tag, copy its contents elsewhere (don't modify the file, please). This is where you will easily find the XML-formatted list of all the nodes, that were not scanned. It won't contain the error though. But it's a nice workaround until we introduce a better resolution to this task.
It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
